Job summary

Debar Bifold-Hardware in Bradford is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to take components from concept through detailed design, prototyping, testing and production release. You will work on bifold door hardware and related systems, ensuring manufacturability and high quality through close collaboration with partners and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field is mandatory.
• Relevant professional experience in mechanical design or product development.
• Strong capability in parametric 3D CAD and manufacturing-ready drawings.
• Experience designing physical products for manufacture rather than CAD modelling alone.
• Good understanding of Design for Manufacture, tolerances and tolerance stack-up analysis.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for bifold door hardware and systems.
• Create accurate 3D CAD models, assemblies, drawings, specs and Bills of Materials.
• Collaborate with external systems houses and partners to integrate hardware with their systems.
• Apply DFM/DFA principles across manufacturing processes (machining, extrusion, casting, moulding).
• Support prototype builds, testing and product launch with structured issue investigations.
