Qualifications

• Experience of mechanical engineering in the built environment, preferably within a consultancy business.
• A degree in building services engineering specialising in mechanical services.
• Actively working towards chartership.
• Up to date knowledge of current building regulations, legislation and standards applicable in building/infrastructure design environments.
• Highly competent user/ knowledge of industry recognised software and mechanical engineer design tools including NBS specifications and IES/ TAS/ H2X.
• BIM knowledge and experience.
• Self-motivated, with the ability to work on own initiative and the confidence to make decisions.
• Ability to work well collaboratively, both internally and with external partners and sub-contractors.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review mechanical services design documentation and specifications for project stages.
• Conduct detailed surveys of mechanical services to establish status and inform design proposals.
• Produce and review mechanical design drawings and calculations (HVAC, water, drainage).
• Produce fee estimates for work elements.
• Advise on energy consumption and opportunities to improve energy performance.
• Monitor design and project management of building services elements within agreed programmes.
• Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and standards.
• Mentor junior mechanical engineers and apprentices.
