Job summary

Arcus Search in London is seeking a Python Software Engineer for Observability Engineering within Quant Research. You will help design and build telemetry platforms that underpin hundreds of services, focusing on scalable data pipelines, collectors, and backends.

Ideal candidates have strong Python backend experience, experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native environments, and a passion for observability and developer tooling.

Qualifications

• Strong Python backend engineering experience.
• Experience in Kubernetes / cloud-native environments.
• Interest or experience in observability, monitoring or telemetry systems.
• Comfortable building distributed systems and internal developer tooling.
• Strong problem-solving and collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain systems handling cloud-scale telemetry data.
• Extend OpenTelemetry collectors, SDKs and exporters.
• Design telemetry pipelines and observability backends.
• Implement instrumentation standards and Golden Paths.
• Improve incident response and operational visibility through telemetry.
• Build tooling to boost developer productivity and platform observability.
