Ocado Technology in London and Hatfield is seeking a Data Science Manager for Logistics to lead the Autoplanner team and deliver AI-enabled planning across global warehouses. You will bridge research and live operations, integrating models into backend services and scaling a high‑performing team.

You will mentor and coach engineers and scientists, drive best practices, and deliver systems that balance profitability with operational excellence. This hybrid role spans London and Hatfield.

Qualifications

• Strong data science background with Python coding.
• Proven end-to-end ML solution delivery from discovery to production.
• Experience coaching and leading high-performing technical teams.
• Collaborative across crafts with peer challenge.
• Pragmatic delivery focusing on fast outputs.
• Comfort with ambiguity and curiosity.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary team to research, develop, deploy planning systems.
• Drive ML solutions for route requirements, staffing, and sales estimates.
• Identify opportunities to add value with ML and create PoCs.
• Collaborate with product teams to integrate models with backend services.
• Maintain delivery pace and continuous improvement.
• Mentor team through weekly 1:1s and feedback.
• Manage end-to-end recruitment and development of diverse team.
• Champion data science best practices across the organisation.
• Deliver AI systems balancing profit and operational excellence.
• Navigate ambiguity to deliver iterative results.
