Job summary

Alpha FMC in Leeds is seeking a Legal Counsel to join the Legal, Compliance and Risk team. You will guide contractual relationships with clients and suppliers, drafting and negotiating a wide range of IT, SaaS and professional services agreements.

The role requires UK-qualified solicitor with 2–4 years PQE, strong data protection knowledge, and the ability to advise business teams clearly. A hybrid 2–3 day office pattern is offered, with opportunities to work across UK, MENA and APAC.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor in England and Wales (or equivalent).
• 2–4 years' post-qualification experience in a law firm or in-house environment (technology, SaaS, IT services, consulting or financial services preferred).
• Solid experience drafting and negotiating SaaS, IT, and professional services contracts.
• Strong understanding of UK and EU data protection law (UK GDPR, EU GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) and standard privacy contracting.
• Ability to engage directly with business teams and provide clear, practical advice.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Experience of advising on contracts governed by laws other than English law, particularly in MENA and APAC.

Responsibilities

• Providing support to the business in respect of contractual relationships with new and existing clients, including reviewing, drafting and negotiating contracts.
• Reviewing and negotiating supplier contracts (particularly with IT product and services providers) and partnership arrangements with providers of technology solutions.
• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad range of IT/tech and professional services agreements, including SaaS, cloud hosting, software licensing, and data processing agreements.
• Drafting and maintaining template documentation across Alpha's business units.
• Ensuring contracts comply with applicable law, industry regulations and Alpha policies.
• Working closely with UK, MENA and APAC business divisions and providing support on other legal matters as needed.
