Capital One Europe is seeking a Lead Software Development Engineer - Shared Platforms in Nottingham to guide architecture and delivery of scalable software. You will lead a cross-functional team, set technical direction and ensure high-quality, secure solutions across the SDLC.

You will collaborate with product engineering and enterprise groups, driving best practices, observability and cloud-native delivery in a hybrid work model based in our Nottingham office.

Qualifications

• Designs architectures that are secure and scalable.
• Strong API development skills using modern OO languages (Java).
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS) and CI/CD tooling.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team or cross-functional engineering team to design, enable and develop software features for delivery domains.
• Translate product direction into technical solutions with engineering lead and stakeholders.
• Take end-to-end responsibility for technical design, implementation and operations.
• Elevate engineering enablement, excellence, and experience across the broader engineering community.
• Drive engineering best practices (Operational Excellence, Security, Quality) across teams.
• Identify opportunities to simplify and reduce friction for engineers in the SDLC.
• Enable platforms and enablement teams to deliver productive solutions.
• Foster partnerships between Product Engineering, senior engineering and the Enterprise.
