Job summary

Egis is expanding rapidly in the UK and seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to shape water infrastructure. You will lead mechanical design across water projects, mentor engineers and contribute to bids within a fast‑growing UK Water team.

Qualifications

  • BEng/MEng in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with a relevant institution (e.g., IMechE).
  • Typically 7–10+ years of mechanical engineering design experience.
  • Background in water, wastewater, biosolids/bioresources or oil & gas.
  • Proven ability to act as mechanical discipline lead on multidisciplinary projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design delivery on multidisciplinary water/wastewater projects across the full design lifecycle.
  • Act as mechanical technical lead, owning design strategy and key decisions.
  • Review and approve mechanical calculations, specifications, datasheets, reports and layouts.
  • Lead equipment selection and mechanical design for pumps, pipework, valves, tanks and process systems.
  • Mentor and manage engineers, supporting recruitment and chartership progression.
  • Contribute to bids, client engagement, and growth of the mechanical capability.
