Job summary

Arup is seeking a Junior Assistant Software Asset Manager / SAM Analyst on a 12 month contract. Hybrid role based in Newcastle upon Tyne or Birmingham, 3 days per week in office, collaborating with Digital Technology and procurement teams to manage licences and entitlement data.

You will support licence validation, renewals, and governance, ensuring accurate records and compliance across the SAM function. A structured, detail‑oriented approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in Software Asset Management or IT Asset Management or related Digital Technology function (1–3 years).
• Ability to manage software licences, contracts and entitlement records with accuracy.
• Familiarity with SAM tools (Snow Atlas / Snow, ServiceNow) and MS 365 is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Support management of software licences, contracts, subscriptions, renewals and entitlement records.
• Maintain and improve software asset data in SAM systems.
• Assist with licence entitlement validation and maintenance records.
• Review usage to identify compliance risks, gaps and optimisation opportunities.
• Support renewal activity with stakeholders’ information to justify renewals.
• Maintain software catalogue records and governance processes.
• Assist with software request triage and route to fulfilment.
• Coordinate with vendors and internal teams on licence terms and quotes.
• Support reporting on compliance, cost, usage and data quality for SAM stakeholders.
• Identify data gaps and improvement opportunities in software governance.
