Job summary

Springfields Fuels Ltd in Salwick near Preston is recruiting an IT Engineer to maintain, develop, and support the site's IT infrastructure and services that underpin critical manufacturing operations. You will work with Engineering, Operations, and Cyber Security to deliver reliable, secure IT solutions, reporting to the Infrastructure Manager.

The role blends hands-on technical work with ensuring system availability, performance, and security across enterprise and industrial systems.

Qualifications

• Degree or HNC/HND in Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with IT infrastructure support in a regulated environment.
• Windows Server and Active Directory administration.
• Virtualisation platforms (VMware, Hyper-V).
• Networking technologies (TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, VPN, Firewalls).
• Backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
• Understanding of cyber security principles and frameworks (NCSC CAF, ISO 27001).
• Familiarity with ITIL processes and service management best practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support and maintenance for servers, networks, storage, and end-user systems.
• Administer and monitor on-premise and cloud-based systems to ensure availability, performance, and data integrity.
• Support Windows and Linux environments, Active Directory, and associated enterprise applications.
• Manage patching, updates, and backups following company standards and security requirements.
• Provide second- and third-line IT support to users across site operations, engineering, and corporate functions.
• Document processes, procedures, and technical configurations following ITIL practices.
