Job summary

Network Rail is seeking an Inventory Controller for a 12 month fixed-term contract/secondment based at The Quadrant, Milton Keynes. The role focuses on developing stocking principles, analyzing stock movements and working with the Regional Distribution Centre teams to keep stock available and costs down.

You will use Excel and ERP systems to monitor stock levels, contribute to improvements, and collaborate with suppliers to deliver efficient supply chain operations.

Qualifications

• Analytical, numeric and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and spoken communication.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficient with Excel including pivot tables and VLOOKUP.
• Experience with ERP supply chain systems.
• Good understanding of the supply chain principles.

Responsibilities

• Engage with Inventory Manager and teams to develop stocking principles.
• Analyze stockouts, overstocks, and demand changes; report performance.
• Review category and supplier data; lead inventory strategy changes.
• Provide guidance on cost-effective inventory management decisions.
• Maintain inventory levels at lean, available levels to meet demand.
• Resolve daily queries within the discipline and teams.
• Review min/max stocking levels and stock locations.
• Adjust ordering setup during supply issues to minimize delays.
