Job summary

Equans is seeking a Health & Safety Manager to oversee Birmingham and the West Midlands on a permanent basis. This full-time role is 37.5 hours per week with hybrid working; on-site Tue–Thu.

The post reports to the Senior SHEQ Manager and supports operations within a public sector portfolio, driving compliance with safety, environment and quality standards. You will lead regional SHEQ activities, develop action plans, mentor safety ambassadors, and ensure training matrices are in place.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH National Diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience leading health & safety across multisite operations.
• Solid knowledge of SHEQ legislation and compliance requirements.
• Data-driven approach to safety management and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Manage SHEQ across the regional operational area to ensure work meets external and internal standards.
• Record and report data (Near Misses, Accidents, RIDDORs, HiPo’s, LTI’s, Incidents, Waste, Energy, etc.).
• Establish SHEQ Action Plans with Contract Director/Manager to deliver safer workplaces and improve culture.
• Lead investigations with stakeholders, providing root-cause analyses and actionable recommendations.
• Coach contracts to use reporting tools (Power BI) and feed insights to central SHEQ team.
