Job summary

Bimplus in the South of England is recruiting an experienced Health & Safety Manager to lead H&S across multiple sites. The role reports to the SHEQ function and involves regular site visits, audits, and driving a strong safety culture.

You will ensure compliance with UK health and safety legislation, lead incident investigations, provide expert guidance to Directors and managers, and support continuous improvement across operations. Travel between sites is required.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and influence at all levels
• Strong knowledge of UK health & safety law and best practice
• Experience leading investigations and root cause analysis
• Proven auditing and compliance experience
• Experience delivering H&S training and risk assessments
• Good report writing and Microsoft Office skills
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across sites
• ISO 45001 Internal or Lead Auditor qualification is desirable
• Experience in Waste Management, Recycling, Logistics or heavy industry preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the Health & Safety Management System across multiple sites
• Ensure compliance with UK Health and Safety legislation, ACOPs and best practice
• Provide expert H&S guidance to Directors, Managers and operational teams
• Conduct site inspections, audits and compliance reviews
• Investigate accidents and near misses; determine root causes and preventive actions
• Monitor H&S performance via KPI reporting and trend analysis
• Deliver toolbox talks, training programmes and awareness campaigns
• Support risk assessments, COSHH, manual handling and Safe Systems of Work
• Manage contractor H&S compliance processes
• Oversee safe systems for plant, equipment and vehicle movements
• Promote behavioural safety across the business
• Liaise with HSE and Environment Agency as required
• Ensure inspections and certification programs remain compliant
• Support emergency planning including fire safety and business continuity
• Collaborate with operations to improve safety while supporting commercial aims
