Job summary

Strata Consulting is seeking a Senior Highways Engineer to lead the design and delivery of highway infrastructure projects in the Midlands and wider UK from our Birmingham base. You will manage from concept through to construction, providing technical leadership and mentoring junior engineers.

The role requires extensive highways design experience, knowledge of UK standards, and strong client/stakeholder engagement. Hybrid working arrangements and generous development opportunities are on offer.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Significant highways design & engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of UK highway design standards (DMRB, Manual for Streets).
• Proficiency in Civil 3D/AutoCAD or equivalent.
• Experience leading projects & coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication & stakeholder management skills.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of highway infrastructure projects.
• Prepare and review highway designs, technical reports, specs and drawings.
• Manage projects to deliver on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
• Provide technical expertise in highways engineering & road safety.
• Mentor junior engineers and coordinate with clients and authorities.
• Support business development through proposals and client engagement.
