Job summary

Carrington West is seeking an Associate Engineer to provide technical leadership across a diverse highways and transport portfolio, from local authority improvements to major national schemes. You will lead a small team in the Manchester office, engage with clients, and drive delivery from concept through construction.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) with proven experience delivering highways/transport projects.
• Strong understanding of DMRB, MfS and local authority standards.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to lead client engagement.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of highways and transport infrastructure projects.
• Oversee feasibility studies, preliminary and detailed designs, and technical reports.
• Provide project management including budget control, programme management and resource planning.
• Act as primary client liaison and build trusted relationships.
• Ensure designs comply with DMRB and local authority standards.
• Support business development including bids, proposals and presentations.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers and technicians.
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams including drainage, structures, planning and environmental specialists.
