Job summary

Headland Archaeology is seeking a GIS Supervisor to join the Technical Services team in a permanent, full-time role based in Hereford. Hybrid working is available across UK locations including Midlands, Scotland and Yorkshire.

The role focuses on coordinating GIS activities, delivering high-quality drawings, managing survey data, and supporting field teams with GIS outputs and training. You will work under the Senior GIS Officer and contribute to Headland's GIS strategy.

Qualifications

• Experience of producing high quality drawings quickly in GIS.
• Understanding of archaeological project design.
• Interest in British archaeology and a desire to acquire relevant knowledge.
• Experience with GIS
• Sound understanding of survey data processing, tidying and quality assurance.
• Managing GIS data effectively and ensuring it is safe and secure.
• GIS data presentation and dissemination, including assisting in access for multiple users.
• Use of Microsoft Office packages, particularly Excel.

Responsibilities

• Help support the GIS team to produce project setup and working drawings.
• Processing survey and spatial data as required.
• Producing GIS deliverables.
• Carrying out GIS analysis tasks.
• Producing and submitting GIS archive submissions for field projects.
• Contributing to research and development into new or alternate GIS and data management methods and processes.
• Application of GIS and data management procedures, including GIS data security.
• Enabling easy access to GIS data for the wider company.
• Liaising with other GIS users in the department to ensure a smooth flow of data.
• Providing GIS training to the wider company.
