Job summary

Sellick Partnership are working with a leading organisation within the public transport sector who are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join their finance function on a permanent basis. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of a broad range of financial activities and to support the Head of Finance & IT.

The successful candidate will lead financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, develop financial controls and contribute to wider operational performance.

Qualifications

• Professional accountancy qualification (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) or part-qualified with extensive experience.
• Strong technical accounting experience across financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
• Experience in managing or developing finance team members.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing the monthly financial close and reporting process to ensure timely information.
• Supporting budgets, forecasts and longer-term financial plans.
• Managing cash flow forecasting and contributing to group reporting requirements.
• Taking responsibility for statutory accounts preparation and supporting external audits.
• Maintaining strong financial controls and identifying process improvements.
• Ensuring compliance with legislation, regulations and internal requirements.
• Providing financial analysis to support business decisions and performance.
• Assisting procurement activities and IT-related financial reporting.
• Reviewing and improving internal processes across the finance function.
• Deputising for the Head of Finance & IT when required.
• Mentoring and developing a small finance team (two direct reports).
