Job summary

The Works is seeking a Financial Accountant to join our Financial Reporting team. You will support the month-end reporting, reconciliations, balance sheet control and statutory reporting across a portfolio of GL accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

You will work closely with the Senior Financial Reporting Manager, handling interim and year-end activities, audits and process improvements while developing technical accounting knowledge and delivering high-quality supporting documentation.

Qualifications

• At least three years’ experience within a similar role in a financial reporting or financial accounting environment.
• Experience of month-end accounting processes and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Strong Excel skills and ability to analyse large volumes of financial data.
• Good understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Own designated month-end accounting and reporting areas, ensuring all journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations are completed accurately and on time.
• Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and proactively investigate and resolve reconciling differences.
• Support the preparation of monthly management accounts and reporting packs.
• Take ownership of assigned balance sheet areas including accruals, prepayments, payroll, intercompany balances and other reporting areas.
• Support property and fixed asset accounting activities as required.
• Prepare supporting schedules and analysis for interim and year-end reporting.
• Support the preparation of subsidiary accounts, annual report disclosures and statutory reporting requirements.
• Assist with the external audit process by preparing supporting documentation and responding to auditor requests.
• Produce variance analysis and provide insight into financial performance and movements.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Review financial data for accuracy and completeness prior to submission for management review.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls and reporting efficiency.
• Provide support across the wider Financial Reporting team as required.
