Job summary

Principal People is recruiting an Environmental Advisor to support major infrastructure projects within the Thames Water region. The role is hybrid with regular travel, focusing on implementing environmental strategy and driving improvements across the framework.

You will advise operational teams, review documentation, conduct audits, and collaborate with stakeholders to promote a positive environmental culture. A relevant degree and sector experience are required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Environmental Science or a related field.
• ISEP Practitioner membership or working towards would be advantageous.
• Experience in construction, infrastructure, utilities or water sectors.
• Strong understanding of environmental legislation, management systems and risk management.
• Confident communicator with the ability to engage operational teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of the environmental strategy across the framework.
• Provide practical environmental advice to operational and site teams.
• Review high-risk method statements, risk assessments and environmental documentation.
• Conduct site inspections, environmental reviews and audits.
• Support environmental compliance across all project stages.
• Investigate environmental incidents and non-conformities and support corrective actions.
• Monitor environmental performance through KPIs and drive continuous improvement.
• Deliver environmental briefings, training and best practice guidance.
• Support supply chain onboarding and ongoing environmental performance monitoring.
• Build strong relationships with clients, contractors and regulatory stakeholders.
