Job summary

National Highways is seeking a Senior Technical Architect to embed security across our digital ecosystem. You will influence IT, OT and business services with expert architectural guidance, driving secure design and governance across programmes and operations.

The role is hybrid, with two days per week in the office, and requires SC clearance readiness and five years UK residency consideration as part of vetting.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in security architecture translating strategy into practical architectural solutions.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR and IEC 62443 across IT/OT environments.
• Demonstrable experience designing and evaluating secure Cloud and IT architectures including IAM, encryption and network segmentation.
• Advanced experience in security risk assessment, threat modelling and vulnerability analysis.
• Practical experience applying Secure-by-Design principles, overseeing security testing and incident guidance.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic security architecture advice across IT, OT and business services, identifying security gaps and influencing roadmaps.
• Contribute to secure architecture design and assurance, including high-level and detailed designs and security risk assessments.
• Provide expert guidance across Cloud and OT environments, supporting configuration management, patching, access management and DR.
• Drive continuous improvement of enterprise security frameworks, policies and documentation for compliance.
• Support secure lifecycle management of services, ensuring security requirements and auditability are maintained.
