Job summary

X4 Group Ltd is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer (Junior to Senior) for a hybrid role in Southampton. You'll develop embedded software in C/C++ across the full stack, work with Linux environments, and collaborate with hardware and systems teams to deliver reliable, high-performance software for demanding applications.

The role is flexible from junior to senior level, with onsite three days per week and two days remote; salary is up to £80,000 depending on experience, plus a comprehensive

Qualifications

Embedded software development experience in C and/or C++
Experience working in Linux environments
Understanding of Object-Oriented Design (OOD), SOLID principles, and design patterns
Familiarity with unit testing and modern software development practices
Exposure to CAN, RS232/RS422, UDP, or TCP/IP communications

Responsibilities

Developing and maintaining embedded software in C/C++
Designing, testing, and integrating software for complex embedded systems
Working across the full software development lifecycle
Collaborating with hardware, FPGA, and systems engineering teams
Building robust, high-performance software for advanced engineering applications
