Job summary

Essential Employment is seeking an Environment Health and Safety Manager for a Hybrid role in Barnet. The position reports to the Executive Director of Environment and focuses on compliance, risk management and improvement across the health and safety portfolio.

The role leads on regulatory responses, maintains ISO 14001 systems and provides expert advice to senior management while overseeing audits, training delivery and incident investigations.

Qualifications

• Lead the organisation’s EHS programme and act as the competent person for Environment, Health and Safety matters.
• Provide strategic oversight of EHS risks across operations and major projects.
• Lead responses to regulatory inspections and environmental incidents.
• Develop and maintain accredited management systems (e.g., ISO 14001) and support audits.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for EHS performance and assurance reporting to the Executive Director.
• Offer authoritative advice on health and safety to senior management and directors.
• Plan, conduct workplace inspections and internal audits in line with client policy.
• Deliver health, safety and wellbeing training and lead contractor health and safety assurance.
