Job summary

Money & Pensions Service (MaPS) in Bedford is seeking an experienced Economic Analyst to deliver impartial economic impact analysis and to assure the quality of evaluations for nationally significant services.

You will work closely with senior leaders, applying approved government models to assess outcomes, influence decisions, and strengthen credibility. Hybrid working and a focus on societal impact are offered.

Qualifications

• A degree in economics or related field with at least 2 years’ experience in economic analysis.
• Knowledge of the HMT Green and Magenta Books with policy impact experience.
• Proficiency in analysing secondary data sources such as surveys, economic data, and literature reviews.
• Experience in statistical and economic analysis using software like Excel, SPSS, SAS, Power BI, and R.
• Experience designing cost‑benefit analysis, social return on investment (SROI), and economic modelling and forecasting.
• Ability to present complex information to non-technical audiences.
• Able to engage with subject matter experts and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Oversee research and evaluation projects to assess the impact of services on users and the wider UK population.
• Manage internal and external stakeholders to identify evidence gaps and new impact opportunities.
• Analyse quantitative and qualitative data to ensure robust economic impact findings.
• Collaborate with partner agencies to design and deliver high-quality primary data collection.
• Synthesize information applying economic analysis knowledge while noting limitations and risks.
• Understand the impact of services on customers/users, including monetary and non-monetary benefits.
• Write reports and present findings to diverse audiences, including non-technical stakeholders.
