Job summary

National Grid Electricity Distribution in the UK is seeking a DSO Engineer to join the Primary System Models and Data team. The role covers offline power system modelling, data analysis and software development across multiple NGED licence areas, with a focus on 132 kV to 11 kV networks.

You will work in a hybrid model with offices in Bristol, Cardiff, Castle Donington or Tipton. The team develops and maintains modelling platforms, supports regulatory obligations, and collaborates with engineers

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of power system modelling principles.
• Experience with technical datasets, scripting, and automation.
• Ability to communicate complex technical information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and develop offline power system models and datasets.
• Provide and support analysis tools for network planning and insights.
• Develop modelling capability using scenario-based planning and forecasts.
• Calculate specialist datasets for regulatory and industry obligations.
• Share technical data with internal and external stakeholders.
• Liaise with teams to apply modelling expertise and improve efficiency.
• Support use of software like PSS/E, IPSA and PowerFactory.
