Job summary

National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) is seeking a DSO Engineer to join the Primary System Models and Data team. The role supports offline power system models, data analysis and software development across multiple NGED offices in Bristol, Cardiff, Castle Donington or Tipton.

The successful candidate will work in a hybrid model, combining office and home working, and contribute to strategic planning, regulatory compliance and innovation in the electricity network.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of power system modelling principles.
• Experience with technical datasets and developing scripts/tools for automation.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly and work in a distributed team.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and develop offline power system models and datasets.
• Provide modelling tools and analysis software to support planning and analysis.
• Develop and support new analysis tools for network planning and insights.
• Apply scenario-based planning, energy forecasting and security compliance assessments.
• Handle data exchange with internal/external stakeholders and improve efficiency.
