Job summary

Scrumconnect Consulting is seeking a DevOps Engineer (SFIA level 4) to support secure, scalable AWS infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines for a public sector client. You will work with autonomy on infrastructure automation, deployment reliability, and observability while collaborating with senior engineers and the delivery team.

Role requires hands-on Terraform and Ansible, GitLab CI/CD, and scripting in Bash/Python, with on-site presence one day per week across Newcastle, Manchester, or Leeds.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in DevOps/Platform or Infrastructure Engineering.
• Proficient with infrastructure as code using Terraform and Ansible.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines with GitLab.
• Scripting skills in Bash and Python for automation.
• Experience with Kong (CE/EE) and/or Nginx for API gateway management.
• Experience with Prometheus, Grafana, and Alert Manager for monitoring.
• Knowledge of AWS compute and container services (EC2, ECS, ECR).
• Understanding of AWS networking and security (Route53, IAM, ACM, KMS).
• Experience with CloudFormation and S3 storage in production environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain infrastructure as code across AWS environments.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines in GitLab.
• Write automation scripts in Bash and Python.
• Manage API gateway and reverse proxy tooling (Kong, Nginx).
• Configure monitoring and alerting with Prometheus, Grafana, and Alert Manager.
• Manage EC2, Auto Scaling Groups, ECS, and ECR usage.
• Handle networking and security (Route53, IAM, ACM, KMS).
• Support CloudFormation deployments and S3 storage.
