Job summary

Dŵr Cymru Cyf is seeking a Data Engineer to evolve our cloud-based enterprise data platform and support SQL Server feeds used by analytical products. This role offers hybrid working options with Cardiff as the base and flexible hours to suit core business needs.

You will design end-to-end data pipelines across on-premises and cloud environments, ensure data quality and security, and collaborate with data teams to deliver measurable business value for essential public services.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience of data pipeline design and management.
• Proactive problem solving with the ability to communicate solutions to multiple stakeholders.
• Strong Python and SQL programming capabilities.
• Good understanding of database administration activities and principles.
• Knowledge of data transformation approaches.
• Understanding of data security — permissions models and encryption/masking techniques.
• Familiarity with agile project management in data/analytical projects.

Responsibilities

• Designing efficient and robust data engineering projects within both on-premises and cloud-based data stacks.
• Building, maintaining and supporting data engineering pipelines, with incident resolution.
• End-to-end delivery of data engineering solutions including data quality, testing, documentation and demonstrations to the team.
• Working closely with data teams and other technical colleagues across the business.
• Keeping up-to-date with new data engineering approaches and suggesting beneficial implementations.
• Undertaking any other duties to meet business needs.
