Job summary

Dŵr Cymru Cyf is seeking a Data Engineer in Cardiff to evolve our cloud-based data platform. You will support SQL Server data feeds into analytics products, enabling data-led public service decisions.

The role involves on-premises and cloud data stacks, with a focus on robust pipelines and data quality. The candidate will design, build and maintain data pipelines, collaborate with data teams, and apply modern data engineering practices to drive business value.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience designing and managing data pipelines.
• Strong Python and SQL programming capabilities.
• Understanding of data security, permissions and encryption.
• Experience with cloud-based and on-prem data stacks.
• Ability to communicate solutions to data teams and stakeholders.
• Knowledge of data modelling and ingestion patterns.

Responsibilities

• Design robust data pipelines in hybrid data stacks.
• Build and support data engineering pipelines and resolve incidents.
• Deliver end-to-end data engineering solutions with quality and testing.
• Collaborate with data teams and other technical colleagues.
• Explore new data engineering approaches to benefit the business.
• Undertake other duties to meet business needs.
