Job summary

Southern Water seeks a Data & AI Governance Partner to champion responsible governance across data and AI, overseeing policies, standards and practical actions. You will collaborate with business and technical teams to promote safe data sharing, quality and compliance while supporting governance tooling and reporting.

The role focuses on embedding governance into daily work, ensuring data is well managed, protected and used responsibly for customers and the environment, with a hybrid working

Qualifications

• Experience supporting or implementing a data governance framework.
• Knowledge of data ownership, stewardship, metadata, data quality and lifecycle management.
• Ability to translate complex requirements into practical guidance.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Collaborative approach across business, data and technology teams.
• Interest in responsible data sharing, open data and AI governance.
• Continuous improvement mindset with practical solutions.
• Ability to produce governance materials and reports.

Responsibilities

• Embed data and AI governance policies, standards and processes into daily ways of working.
• Support Purview and Databricks Unity Catalogue to improve discovery, ownership, classification and lineage.
• Collaborate with Data Owners, Data Stewards, Platform Engineers and BI Engineers to make governance practical.
• Improve data quality, data model governance and lifecycle management.
• Support responsible data sharing, open data governance and controlled reuse of data products.
• Ensure AI-related data/assets are used with transparency, accountability and safeguards.
• Produce clear reporting and insight for senior stakeholders and governance committees.
• Identify opportunities to simplify and strengthen governance processes and tools.
