Allianz Commercial is seeking a Construction Underwriter in the UK who will manage and develop the Construction portfolio, focusing on profitable renewals and strong broker relations. The role emphasizes underwriting discipline, risk assessment, and collaboration with claims, operations and risk teams while supporting regional growth targets.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction underwriting, including casualty/liability covers.
• Strong understanding of existing business and renewals.
• Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with brokers and negotiating outcomes.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to assess complex risks and market conditions.
• Commercial awareness with a focus on profitable growth and retention.
• Self-motivated team player with the ability to support and mentor others.

Responsibilities

• Manage and retain an existing Construction portfolio, delivering timely, accurate and profitable renewal terms.
• Assess and price risk in line with Allianz appetite and underwriting strategy.
• Build and maintain strong broker and client relationships through regular engagement.
• Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing with brokers to secure sustainable business.
• Contribute to regional underwriting strategy and key business initiatives.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Claims, Operations, and Risk teams.
• Represent Allianz positively in the market, attending broker and client meetings.
