Job summary

Allianz Management Services Ltd is seeking a Construction Underwriter to join Allianz Commercial. You’ll manage and develop our Construction portfolio, work with brokers, and deliver strong underwriting outcomes with a focus on sustainable growth across the account.

The role involves pricing risk, maintaining broker/client relationships, and collaborating with Claims, Operations and Risk teams. Hybrid work in Birmingham or Bristol is offered with 2–3 days in the office.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction underwriting, including casualty/liability covers.
• Strong understanding of existing business and renewals.
• Confident communicator, comfortable engaging with brokers and negotiating outcomes.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to assess complex risks and market conditions.
• Commercial awareness with a focus on profitable growth and retention.
• Self-motivated team player with the ability to support and mentor others.
• Proactive and driven with a strong focus on personal and professional development.
• Ability to take initiative and contribute positively within a team environment.
• Responsible Artificial Intelligence usage.

Responsibilities

• Manage and retain an existing Construction portfolio, delivering timely, accurate and profitable renewal terms.
• Assess and price risk in line with Allianz appetite and underwriting strategy.
• Build and maintain strong broker and client relationships through regular engagement.
• Negotiate terms, conditions, and pricing with brokers to secure sustainable business.
• Contribute to regional underwriting strategy and key business initiatives.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Claims, Operations, and Risk teams.
• Represent Allianz positively in the market, attending broker and client meetings.
