Job summary

eFinancialCareers is seeking a Data Engineer to support a data transformation and cloud modernisation programme in Central London. The role focuses on building scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Databricks, Python and SQL, and migrating data assets to modern cloud architectures.

The ideal candidate has strong Oracle database experience, data modelling and data quality controls, and can deliver high-quality solutions with minimal supervision in a collaborative, stakeholder-driven environment.

Qualifications

• Must have strong commercial Data Engineer experience in enterprise settings.
• Hands-on Databricks expertise.
• Advanced SQL development skills.
• Strong Python development experience.
• Extensive Oracle database experience.
• Proven ability to build and support data pipelines.
• Experience with cloud-based data platforms.
• Knowledge of data modelling, performance optimisation and data quality controls.
• Experience across the full software development lifecycle.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and optimise scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines.
• Develop solutions using Databricks, Python and SQL.
• Migrate data assets from legacy platforms to cloud-based architectures.
• Integrate data from multiple enterprise systems including Oracle.
• Develop reusable data engineering frameworks and best practices.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, security and performance.
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement fixes.
• Collaborate with architects, data analysts, and stakeholders to translate requirements.
• Produce technical documentation and support knowledge transfer.
