Job summary

Next Ventures in London is seeking a Python Engineer for a six‑month engagement to design, build and optimise scalable data pipelines. You will develop with Databricks, Python and SQL, migrating data assets from legacy platforms to modern cloud architectures.

Collaborate with architects, data analysts and stakeholders to translate requirements into robust solutions, ensure data quality and security, and produce clear technical documentation.

Qualifications

• Strong data engineering background within large enterprise environments.
• Hands-on Databricks experience.
• Advanced SQL development skills.
• Strong Python development experience.
• Extensive experience with Oracle databases.
• Proven track record building data pipelines and integration solutions.
• Experience with cloud-based data platforms.
• Knowledge of data modelling, performance optimisation and data quality controls.
• Experience across the full software development lifecycle.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent problem-solving and stakeholder communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and optimise scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines.
• Develop and maintain solutions using Databricks, Python and SQL.
• Support migration of data assets from legacy platforms into modern cloud-based architectures.
• Integrate data from multiple enterprise systems, including Oracle databases.
• Develop reusable data engineering frameworks and best practices.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, security and performance standards are met.
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement sustainable fixes.
• Collaborate with architects, data analysts, business stakeholders and delivery teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Produce clear technical documentation and support knowledge transfer activities.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of JRIE's enterprise data platform.
