Job summary

First Group in Reading invites applications for a Claims Technician to manage a portfolio of claims, liaise with customers and stakeholders, and ensure efficient, compliant handling of claims within a specialist environment.

Whether you have claims experience or are transferring from administration or customer service, this role offers development opportunities in a supportive team. The role is hybrid in Reading with 35 hours per week and flexible hours.

Qualifications

• Experience in admin, customer service, claims or similar office role.
• Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Professional and empathetic approach with customers.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and IT systems.
• Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Claims handling or insurance experience would be advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Manage your own caseload of claims from initial notification through to resolution.
• Review and respond to correspondence, emails, and telephone enquiries.
• Gather and assess information to support decision-making.
• Liaise with customers, insurers and other stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate records and update systems accordingly.
• Identify and escalate complex cases as required.
• Support investigations by obtaining reports, statements, and evidence.
• Ensure claims are handled in line with procedures and legal requirements.
• Monitor deadlines and use diary management systems effectively.
• Assist in identifying potentially fraudulent claims.
• Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.
