Job summary

Housing Plus Group is seeking an Accountant - Care & Support to provide robust financial management across its care entities, Housing for Older People services and related landlord entity. Reporting to the Head of Finance - Care & Support, you will lead management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and scenario modelling to enable informed decision-making.

Qualifications

• Active study towards a recognised professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA, or at least three years in a senior finance role alongside AAT qualification.
• Strong Excel skills.
• Experience of management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and explaining financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
• The ability to communicate complex information clearly and accessibly to a range of audiences.
• Strong collaboration, negotiating and influencing skills.
• The ability to work independently, at pace and to tight deadlines.
• A sound understanding of the challenges facing the housing sector and the relevant regulatory and legal environment.

Responsibilities

• Preparing accurate and timely management accounts for the Care business stream and Housing for Older People services.
• Explaining financial performance and variances clearly to budget holders and operational colleagues.
• Providing business partnering support and high-quality financial insight to enable effective decision-making.
• Supporting annual budget setting, in-year forecasting and financial management against budget.
• Identifying financial risks and opportunities and preparing scenario modelling for the Care & Support Directorate.
• Supporting year-end procedures, audit preparation, working papers and liaison with external auditors.
• Assisting with statutory financial statements for Choices Housing Association and Care Plus.
• Preparing financial information for business cases, service reviews and transformation projects.
• Assisting with bids and tenders for services within the care domain.
• Ensuring compliance with financial procedures, controls and relevant housing and care regulatory requirements.
• Managing and developing a small team of Assistant Accountants, allocating workload and supporting continuous improvement.
• Promoting a collaborative and supportive culture across the wider Finance function.
