Job summary

The Wellcome Sanger Institute is seeking a Buying Operations Lead to own requisition-to-purchase order workflows and drive procurement efficiency in a hybrid role on campus in Hinxton. You will manage exceptions, coordinate supplier onboarding, and push for practical, compliant improvements across buying processes.

You will rely on Oracle Fusion, ERP knowledge, and strong Excel reporting to identify risks, propose solutions, and ensure timely, accurate purchasing activities in a busy research

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of buying operations and requisition-to-PO workflows.
• Knowledge of procure-to-pay processes and operational governance.
• Experience with ERP or e-procurement systems; Oracle Fusion desirable.
• Excellent Excel or equivalent reporting tools for operational data analysis.
• Experience managing transactional issues and workflow exceptions in procurement.

Responsibilities

• Own requisition-to-purchase order workflows within Oracle Fusion.
• Manage exceptions, overdue purchases, and escalation paths.
• Coordinate supplier onboarding and enablement, resolving PO, receipting, invoicing issues.
• Identify recurring problems and propose workflow improvements and automation.
• Ensure compliance with buying policies and maintain controls and audit trails.
