Job summary

UCAS is recruiting for a Business Intelligence Analyst to shape data into self-serve outputs and build reports, primarily in PowerBI, for internal and external stakeholders.

You will collaborate across teams, govern BI processes, and transform data models into actionable insights while mentoring junior colleagues. The role offers hybrid working and a 35-hour week within a charity-led organisation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a numerate discipline (e.g., maths, stats, CS, OR, data science) or demonstrable equivalent experience.
• Strong programming knowledge in Python, R, SAS or C# and ability to write readable, efficient code.
• Proficiency with PowerBI and DAX; solid data model design experience.
• Good ETL and SQL skills; familiarity with dashboard UI/UX best practices.
• Experience with AWS components, including S3; ability to manipulate datasets programmatically.
• Collaborative approach and ability to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Curiosity and drive to derive meaningful insights from data.
• Strong numeracy, analytical and logical thinking; ability to learn quickly.
• Experience coaching peers or juniors is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support maintenance and development of UCAS' BI platform, including dashboards, data flows from the Data Platform, and governance of the BI estate.
• Collaborate with colleagues to define and refine PowerBI reporting requirements.
• Work with the Data Platform team to integrate new data sources into the platform.
• Transform Data Warehouse models into PowerBI-ready schemas for reporting.
• Use PowerBI to build automated, interactive dashboards and external reports for self-serve BI.
• Coach and mentor junior BI developers and data scientists.
