Job summary

Halfords Group PLC is recruiting an Assistant Management Accountant at our Worcestershire Support Centre. The role focuses on delivering accurate monthly management accounts, supporting period-end close, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.

You will work with the Management Accountant team, maintain strong controls, and develop reporting capabilities while benefiting from study support towards a recognised accounting qualification within a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Part-qualified or studying towards a professional accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA or ACA).
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, including reconciliations, accruals, and month-end processes.
• Proficient in Excel and comfortable working with finance systems and large datasets.
• Highly organised, analytical, and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Experience of budgeting, forecasting, or management reporting.
• Exposure to cost or inventory accounting.
• Knowledge of Power BI, Power Query, or Excel automation tools.

Responsibilities

• Support the preparation of monthly management accounts, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and period-end reporting.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis, providing insight into business performance and key variances.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records, ensuring strong controls and data integrity.
• Support month-end, year-end, and audit activities, helping to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting.
• Build effective relationships across the business to gather financial information and provide meaningful support to stakeholders.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance finance processes, systems, and reporting.
