Job summary

Halfords is recruiting an Assistant Management Accountant in Redditch. You will work with the Management Accountant team on period-end close, management reporting and strong financial controls, supporting business decisions and process improvements.

A clear pathway exists to develop technical skills while pursuing accounting qualifications. The role offers hybrid working (2–3 days on site) with a structured development plan, study support, and exposure to budgeting, forecasting and performance

Qualifications

  • Part-qualified or currently studying towards a professional accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA or ACA).
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles including reconciliations, accruals and period-end processes.
  • Proficient in Excel and comfortable working with finance systems and large datasets.
  • Highly organised, analytical and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Experience of budgeting, forecasting or management reporting and exposure to cost or inventory accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation of monthly management accounts, including journals, accruals, prepayments and period-end reporting.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis with insights into variances.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records with strong controls.
  • Support month-end, year-end and audit activities to ensure timely and compliant reporting.
  • Build relationships across the business to gather financial information and support stakeholders.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance finance processes and reporting.

About the role

Key responsibilities
  • Support the preparation of monthly management accounts, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and period-end reporting.

About you
