Job summary

UK Grid Solutions Limited - Power Electronics, Stafford is seeking an Intern to join the Control and Protections Systems Department. You will work with a dynamic team on HVDC control system design, modelling and validation, gaining hands-on experience across the hardware and software interface under experienced engineers.

The role offers exposure to PSSE/PSCAD, MATLAB and other tools, with mentoring and opportunities to contribute to real projects in a global HVDC context.

Qualifications

• Two years of degree-level study in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Willingness to learn and develop in HVDC control systems.
• Eligibility to work in the UK (visa sponsorship not provided).

Responsibilities

• Assist in HVDC control system design and analysis under guidance.
• Model HVDC plant using MATLAB, PSSE/PSCAD and related tools.
• Produce technical documentation under supervision of senior engineers.
• Support adherence to standard design practices and reviews.
