Job summary

Hyreus is seeking an experienced HVAC Controls Engineer for field-based work across the North of England. You will install, test, commission and fault-find HVAC control systems on commercial and critical environments, with regular travel to sites.

The role requires strong hands-on expertise with BMS platforms, sensors, actuators and control panels, plus ability to read wiring diagrams and schematics. A full UK driving licence and a proactive approach are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience as HVAC Controls Engineer or similar.
• Strong experience with HVAC controls and point-to-point testing.
• Experience in commissioning and fault-finding BMS/HVAC systems.
• Good understanding of HVAC plant and mechanical building services.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out point-to-point testing of HVAC controls and associated systems.
• Test, commission and fault-find HVAC control systems and BMS installations.
• Verify sensors, actuators, valves, dampers and associated control devices.
• Read and interpret control schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation.
• Identify wiring, configuration and communication faults and implement corrective actions.
• Support the commissioning of HVAC plant including AHUs, chillers, boilers, pumps and associated equipment.
• Test control panels, field devices and communication networks.
• Work closely with controls, HVAC, commissioning and project teams to ensure systems are fully operational.
• Assist with functional performance testing and system optimisation.
• Record test results, commissioning information and outstanding issues accurately.
• Attend customer sites and liaise professionally with clients and site teams.
• Ensure all works are completed in accordance with project specifications, quality standards and health and safety requirements.
• Support fault-finding and remedial works during and after commissioning.
• Travel regularly across the North of England to support various projects.

We're looking to speak with engineers who have strong experience working with HVAC controls systems, BMS and controls commissioning, with particular experience in point-to-point testing.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the installation, testing, commissioning and fault-finding of HVAC controls systems across a range of commercial and critical environments. This role will involve regular travel across the North of England and will suit an engineer with a strong technical background and a practical, hands‑on approach.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience as an HVAC Controls Engineer, BMS Engineer, Controls Commissioning Engineer or similar.
• Strong practical experience with HVAC controls and point-to-point testing is essential.
• Experience commissioning and fault-finding BMS/HVAC control systems.
• Good understanding of HVAC plant and mechanical building services.
• Ability to read and interpret control schematics, wiring diagrams and technical drawings.
• Experience working with sensors, actuators, valves, dampers and control panels.
• Strong electrical and controls fault-finding skills.
• Experience with BMS platforms and HVAC controls systems.
• Good understanding of commissioning and testing procedures.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Comfortable working independently on customer sites.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Relevant electrical, controls, BMS or HVAC qualifications are advantageous.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Willingness to travel across the North of England as required
