Job summary

HVAC Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced HVAC & BMS Engineer to join the healthcare engineering team at Wythenshawe Hospital in Manchester. The role focuses on monitoring BEMS/BMS and HVAC systems, diagnosing faults, and providing responsive maintenance to critical hospital services.

The successful candidate will have NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering and Plumbing, strong fault-finding skills, and a willingness to undertake further training.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering and Plumbing or equivalent.
• Experience in HVAC, mechanical and electrical building services.
• Experience with BMS/BEMS systems and HVAC controls.
• Willingness to undertake additional training.
• Full driving licence desirable.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage BEMS/BMS and HVAC systems across the hospital.
• Diagnose and rectify faults across boiler controls, AHUs, chillers, heating and DHW systems.
• Respond to reactive maintenance issues, alarms and emergency faults.
• Carry out regular system checks and accurately record faults, observations and system changes.
• Provide technical support and fault-finding across mechanical, HVAC and building services systems.
• Work independently and as part of a wider engineering team.
• Support small projects, including specifications, quotations and raising orders.
• Follow RAMS, permit-to-work procedures and all relevant health & safety requirements.
• Participate in on-call rotas and respond to emergency maintenance requirements across hospital sites.
• Continue developing your skills through training, new techniques and relevant legislation.

HVAC & BMS Engineer

Location: Wythenshawe, Manchester
Salary: £42,359.67 per year + 20% shift uplift
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday
Driving Licence: Desirable

We are looking for an experienced HVAC & BMS Engineer to join a dedicated engineering team working within a busy healthcare environment at Wythenshawe Hospital.

This is a great opportunity for an engineer with strong HVAC, BMS and mechanical building services experience who enjoys fault finding, reactive maintenance and keeping critical engineering systems operating safely and efficiently.

The Role

What We're Looking For

• NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering and Plumbing or equivalent.
• Strong experience within HVAC, mechanical and electrical building services.
• Practical experience with BMS/BEMS systems and HVAC controls.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic ability.
• Good understanding of health & safety procedures.
• Experience within healthcare or other large, complex environments is advantageous.
• Willingness to undertake additional training and qualifications.
• Reliable, practical and responsive approach.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Full driving licence is desirable.
