Job summary

NG Bailey Group Limited in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Estimator / Bid Manager to lead tendering for LV to 132kV substation construction and asset replacement projects for DNO and Private Network Owner customers.

The role requires travel across the UK, reviewing tender packs, creating costed proposals, and presenting to senior management and customers. You will coordinate costs, timelines, resources and collaborate across business units to maximise opportunities.

Qualifications

• HV engineering experience in a project environment focused on HV/EHV substations.
• Experience in commercial estimating, bidding and client-facing tasks.
• Familiar with CDM 2015 regulations and Construction Phase Plans.
• Ability to review tender packs, assess scope and risk, and support bid decisions.

Responsibilities

• Review tender enquiry packs and resolve scope queries to ensure accurate proposals.
• Conduct site visits to assess project needs or delegate as needed.
• Create detailed, costed proposals based on direct labour costs and supply chain quotes.
• Submit proposals to Senior Management for review and risk assessment before customer presentation.
• Compile comprehensive handover packs for Operations after successful tenders.
• Coordinate internal/external cost elements to identify risks and mitigation plans.
• Negotiate post-tender changes with customers and manage the full tendering cycle.
