Job summary

BRUSH Group's Power Solutions division seeks a HV Estimator to price tender submissions from enquiry to bid. You’ll build cost models for 11–400 kV projects, read drawings and SLDs, and manage supplier quotes to deliver competitive, buildable bids.

Based at Hook Office with hybrid work (3 days in office, 2 at home), you’ll own tenders, collaborate with Design/Engineering/Procurement and Operations, and support post-tender handovers while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Electrical engineering degree/HNC/HND or equivalent hands-on experience essential.
• Ability to build price from first principles and show calculations.
• Comfortable with drawings, SLDs, and specs to create a full cost model.
• Capable of challenging numbers and clarifying assumptions.
• Able to manage live tenders at different bid stages.
• Can explain work to internal/external stakeholders.
• Build good stakeholder relationships internally and externally.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel.
• HV pricing experience in ICP/DNO/IDNO or principal-contractor settings.
• Pricing experience on 33 kV and/or 132 kV projects.
• Knowledge of G81, NERS/ICP, DNO/IDNO specs.
• Experience coordinating with supply chain and design/delivery teams.
• Desirable: HV-related sectors like BESS, solar, data centre, rail.
• Desirable: transmission or EHV packages and framework pricing.

Responsibilities

• Take enquiry to submission and price from first principles (plant, materials, labour, prelims, subcontract, risk).
• Read drawings/SLDs/specs; confirm inclusions, exclusions, and assumptions (G81, DNO/IDNO, ENA).
• Price substations, cables, transformers, switchgear, protection, civils, connections, and commissioning.
• Coordinate with supply chain; review quotes and maintain supplier relationships.
• Identify risks and pinch-points; document cost-saving opportunities.
• Prepare priced schedule, project summary, and internal approval pack.
• Liaise with Design, Engineering, Procurement and Operations during pricing.
• Respond to bid queries and support tender communications.
• Meet tender return date targets.
• Support post-tender meetings and handover to delivery teams.
• Maintain BRUSH Power Solutions standards on every submission.
