Job summary

Rubicon Recruitment Agency is seeking an HV Electrical Design Engineer in the UK. The role focuses on designing HV infrastructure across 11kV to 132kV+ for transmission, distribution and renewable projects, with a clear path for career progression and opportunities to apply independent engineering judgement.

We welcome candidates with experience in HV design and familiarity with UK standards, including work for DNOs, EPC contractors or consultancies.

Qualifications

• Experience designing electrical infrastructure for transmission and distribution networks, substations, renewable energy developments or major power projects.
• Solid grounding in HV design across more than one voltage level.
• Experience with a DNO, transmission operator, ICP, EPC contractor or engineering consultancy.
• Familiarity with UK electrical engineering standards.
• Experience in every area is not essential; diverse backgrounds welcomed.

Responsibilities

• Producing HV electrical designs across 11kV, 33kV, 66kV and above
• Designing primary and/or secondary substations
• Developing single-line diagrams, electrical layouts, equipment specifications and technical drawings
• Specifying and integrating transformers, switchgear, cabling, protection and control systems
• Working with DNOs, transmission operators, ICPs, EPC contractors or engineering consultancies
• Applying relevant UK electrical engineering standards and design practices
