Job summary

Select Recruitment Specialists Ltd in the Norwich area is seeking an experienced HV Electrical Design Engineer. Hybrid work is available post-probation, with a permanent role and a competitive salary depending on experience.

You will deliver designs for 11kV to 400kV projects, including grid connections and battery storage schemes. You will take projects from concept through detailed design to construction support, covering HV substation design, protection/control, electrical systems, and cable

Qualifications

• Experience in HV electrical design, ideally across 11kV 400kV substations.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent (HNC/HND with strong experience also considered).
• Working knowledge of DNO and National Grid requirements.
• Experience with AutoCAD Electrical.

Responsibilities

• HV substation and primary plant design across the 11kV 400kV range.
• Protection and control design, including schematics, interlocking, trip and alarm circuits, and wiring diagrams.
• AC/DC auxiliary systems, including battery and charger sizing.
• Cable schedules, cable sizing, voltage drop and earthing calculations.
• Equipment specification and transformer/switchgear interface design.
• Producing complete drawing packages, design reports and FAT/SAT documentation.
• Attending client meetings and design reviews.
• Supporting procurement, factory testing and site commissioning.

Our client, a specialist engineering company, is looking for an experienced HV Electrical Design Engineer to join their engineering team. You ll be delivering designs on projects from 11kV to 400kV for various projects and clients, including grid connections and battery storage schemes.

The Role

You ll take projects from concept through detailed design to construction support, including:

• HV substation and primary plant design across the 11kV 400kV range

About You

• Experience in HV electrical design, ideally across 11kV 400kV substations

• Confident liaising with clients and managing multiple projects

Desirable

• Renewable energy, BESS or offshore wind project exposure
• Commissioning or panel manufacturing background
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership
• IET membership
