Our Client, a UK electrical engineering consultancy, is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer for office/site mix in Ellesmere Port. You will own end-to-end electrical design packages and support on site across the UK.

You will deliver LV/HV distribution designs, cable routing, single line diagrams and reports, with hands-on surveys and commissioning support. Travel to client sites will be required.

Qualifications

Electrical design experience in industrial/manufacturing or chemical plants.
Design of switchboards, transformers and LV distribution.
Cable routing, containment and cable sizing.
Delivery of design packages from feasibility to construction.
Hands-on site surveys and commissioning support.

Responsibilities

Deliver design packages across all stages: feasibility, concept, detailed design and issue for construction.
Design LV/HV distribution systems including switchboards, MCCs and transformers.
Produce single line diagrams, layouts, schematics and design reports.
Carry out site surveys and support installation, testing and commissioning.
Review contractor and vendor documentation for technical compliance.
Liaise with clients and present design options and recommendations.

Electrical Design Engineer Office/Site Mix, Ellesmere Port £40,000 to £55,000 +

Our Client is a UK electrical engineering consultancy specialising in HV, LV and instrumentation design across the utilities and industrial sectors. They take projects from conception to completion, working on substations, switchgear, protection and control for major UK infrastructure clients and heavy‑industry operators, including COMAH sites.

They are now growing and looking for an Electrical Design Engineer who can own design packages end to end and is comfortable on site as well as behind a screen.

The role

You'll lead and deliver electrical design packages for industrial manufacturing and chemical process clients, from early feasibility and options studies through detailed design, construction issue and site support. You'll work closely with clients, contractors and our in‑house E&I and mechanical/structural team. The role is based at their Ellesmere Port office, with travel to client sites across the UK as required.

Key responsibilities

Delivering design packages across all stages: feasibility, concept, detailed design and issue for construction
Designing LV and HV distribution systems, including switchboards, MCCs and transformers
Producing cable routing designs, cable schedules and cable sizing calculations
Preparing single line diagrams, layouts, schematics and design reports
Carrying out site surveys and supporting installation, testing and commissioning
Reviewing contractor and vendor documentation for technical compliance
Liaising directly with clients and presenting design options and recommendations

Essential experience

Electrical design experience in industrial manufacturing and/or chemical plant environments
Design of switchboards, transformers and LV distribution systems
Cable routing, containment and cable sizing
Proven delivery of design packages from feasibility through to construction
Hands‑on site experience (surveys, installation oversight, commissioning support)
Working knowledge of BS 7671 and relevant British/IEC standards
