Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR in Stafford is seeking a Protection & Controls Engineer (Design) to deliver HV & EHV protection studies, relay applications and technical documentation for UK electricity networks. This pure design role focuses on protection design, fault level calculations, scheme design for transformers, feeders and cables, with clear progression in a technically focused environment.

Candidates should hold a degree in Electrical Engineering and have 3–7 years in Protection & Controls design,

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
• 3–7 years' experience in Protection & Controls design.
• Experience on UK DNO or Grid projects.
• Strong knowledge of HV/EHV protection systems and relays (ABB, Siemens, SEL, GE, Schneider).
• Working towards or holding CEng desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop protection philosophies in line with DNO / Grid standards
• Carry out fault level calculations, grading & coordination studies
• Design schemes for transformers, feeders, busbars & cables
• Produce protection single lines, schematics & calculation reports
• Support technical assurance and design reviews
