Job summary

BakerHicks in the United Kingdom seeks an HV Cables Design Engineer to ensure the quality and consistency of drawings and technical documents for HV/EHV projects ranging from 11kV to 400kV. You will assist during bids to secure further work and coordinate with CAD technicians and engineers across disciplines.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in mathematics and science, preferably Power Engineering, and be progressing towards CEng status.

Qualifications

• Experience producing and checking HV/EHV designs, calculations, reports and drawings for 11kV–400kV cable system designs.
• Production of bonding line diagrams, cable rating calculations, induced voltage calculations, short-circuit force calculations, thermo-mechanical thrust calculations, pulling tension calculations, material specification lists, etc.
• Excellent client facing skills and ability to communicate technical matters to internal and external stakeholders.
• Solid foundation in mathematics and science, preferably power engineering background, with strong communication skills.
• Manage production of project deliverables through a rigorous checking process and collaboration with CAD technicians.

Responsibilities

• Produce and check designs, calculations, reports and drawings for HV/EHV projects.
• Coordinate with CAD technicians and HV cable engineers across disciplines.
• Support bid process to secure further work and ensure delivery of outputs.
• Lead delivery of drawing packages through a robust checking process.
