Job summary

Smile Education are recruiting a Humanities Teacher to work in a secondary school in Oldham, delivering Geography, History or RE across KS3 and KS4.

You will maintain engaging lessons, support pupils across key stages, manage behaviour and help students progress in the Humanities. A September start is available for a long-term placement.

Qualifications

  • QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification is essential.
  • Experience teaching Humanities within a UK secondary school is required.
  • Strong subject knowledge across KS3 and KS4 is essential.
  • Experience teaching Geography, History or RE is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver Humanities lessons across KS3 and KS4.
  • Teach Geography, History or RE where required.
  • Plan and deliver structured, engaging lessons.
  • Prepare pupils for GCSE where needed.
  • Maintain strong classroom and behaviour management.
  • Support pupils of varying abilities, including SEND.
  • Assess pupil progress and provide feedback where required.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and uphold school expectations.

Humanities Teacher

£170–£235 per day | September start | Long-term


Smile Education are recruiting for a Humanities Teacher to work within a secondary school in Oldham.


This role is ideal for a qualified Humanities Teacher who is confident delivering Geography, History or RE across KS3 and KS4.


The Role

As a Humanities Teacher, you will deliver engaging lessons across the Humanities curriculum.


You will support pupils across KS3 and KS4, maintain strong classroom routines and help students develop subject knowledge, confidence and progress across Humanities.


The school may require teaching across Geography, History or RE, depending on timetable needs.


Key Responsibilities


  • Deliver Humanities lessons across KS3 and KS4.

  • Teach Geography, History or RE where required.

  • Plan and deliver structured, engaging lessons.

  • Prepare pupils for GCSE where needed.

  • Maintain strong classroom and behaviour management.

  • Support pupils of varying abilities, including SEND.

  • Assess pupil progress and provide feedback where required.

  • Build positive relationships with pupils and staff.

  • Follow safeguarding procedures and uphold school expectations.


Requirements


  • QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification is essential.

  • Experience teaching Humanities within a UK secondary school is required.

  • Strong subject knowledge across KS3 and KS4 is essential.

  • Experience teaching Geography, History or RE is desirable.

  • ECTs and experienced teachers are welcome to apply.

  • You must be reliable, professional and confident managing behaviour.

  • You must hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one.

  • You must have the right to work in the UK.


Pay and Benefits


  • £170–£235 per day, dependent on experience and role responsibilities.

  • Long-term role starting in September.

  • Ongoing guidance throughout the placement.
