Job summary

Mace seeks an experienced Health, Safety and Wellbeing advisor to provide visible safety guidance across education projects in the Cambridge/Eastern region and travel two days per week. The role offers a £6,000 car allowance and travel allowances, with flexibility for hybrid working.

Qualifications

• Experience of a HSW role in the industry and school sector.
• Formal qualification in safety management (e.g. NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent) with significant experience; NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ Level 6 desirable.
• Member of relevant professional body such as IOSH (CMIOSH desirable) or OHSA (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Drive implementation and compliance of HSW policies, procedures, guidance, and standards on assigned projects.
• Coordinate inspection and audit schedules; support HSW inspections and audits.
• Advise on contractual and statutory requirements to protect project integrity.
• Contribute to development and updates of standards and guidelines.
• Support preparation of ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and other standards.
• Evaluate audits and KPI results; identify gaps and develop mitigation plans with operations.
• Contribute to incident investigations per business procedures.
• Seek opportunities for continuous improvements in working processes.
• Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Support net zero carbon transition and manage associated emissions reductions during delivery.
